Akali is among the older champions in League of Legends. Released on 11th May 2010, she has been around for over a decade.
However, among the higher-difficulty assassins, not too many newer players have mastered her kit. Those who have tend to terrorize their opponents in matches. Akali can efficiently deal tons of damage while avoiding taking any damage herself.
This makes her a viable choice when playing Ranked matches. And I’ll be honest: she is one of my least favorite champions to play against. In fact, she is one of the main reasons I started to main Top Lane and gave up on Mid. So, it makes sense that such a fearsome champion also has a diverse range of skins.
The Bottom Line
Akali has 14 skins, so you are spoilt for choice if you want an Akali skin. She has premium skins like the K/DA-themed ones. These skins are worth the price, too. They enhance everything about her, from her model to effects and more.
True Damage Akali is especially a standout because it does everything just a tad better than her other K/DA skins. Suppose you are not a K/DA fan and want something simpler (And more affordable). In that case, Blood Moon Akali is a fantastic option. Based on the Blood Moon universe, it is a colorful skin that stands out in its own way.
However, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Before deciding which Akali skin is for you, read about the skins first. And to get an idea of how distinct each skin is, let’s start with the default Akali skin.
Original Akali
Price: 790 RP (Riot Points) / 3150 BE (Blue Essence)
Release Date: 11th May 2010
Skin Lore
Akali abandoned her Fist of Shadow title along with the Kinkou Order. She is now a deadly weapon for her people. She still uses the lessons she learned from Shen, but her current goal is to protect Ionia from any enemies.
As an assassin without a master, she strikes fear in those who would attack her people.
Appearance and Effects
Akali has a dragon tattoo on her back and arms and ninja clothes: a green mask, matching hairband, a black-and-green top, and matching pants. She also carries a barrel behind her which is fixed through a rope.
When Akali casts her E ability, black smoke appears around her.
How To Get It
As this is the default skin, there is no need to spend real money on it. Instead, I strongly suggest buying Akali through Blue Essence, which you get from playing games.
Chromas
There are no Chromas for the original Akali.
Stinger Akali
Price: 520 RP (When Available)
Release Date: 11th May 2010
Skin Lore
Stinger Akali is the best student of the Order of the Great Sparrow Bee. This Order follows a brutal training regimen that teaches students to sting with a hornet’s fierceness.
The only other skin that follows the same lore as Stinger Akali is Yellow Jacket Shen. It might resemble the Bees! Universe, but it is not part of it.
Appearance and Effects
Instead of the default green-and-black, Stinger Akali’s ninja costume is blue-and-yellow. She has silver hair, and her back tattoo now features two wasps.
How To Get It
Stinger Akali does not offer much beyond the cosmetic change. However, I cannot fault them for the low price of 520 RP.
The only issue here is that Stinger Akali is a Legacy Skin. This means the skin is unavailable at the store and will remain so until the developers reopen the Legacy Vault. Alternatively, you can hope to unlock this skin through Loot, though the chances are minuscule at best.
Chromas
There are no Stinger Akali Chromas.
Infernal Akali
Price: 520 RP (When Available)
Release Date: 11th May 2010
Skin Lore
In the Infernal Universe, the Ashen Lord has risen and transformed the world into a land of fire, cinders, and ashes. The Infernal Universe has a wide range of champions—over 22, actually—from Infernals to Protectors, Ashen Lords, etc.
Infernal Akali is a djinn who was summoned to burn her patron’s enemies. She will do so, but the cost will be high. Before I forget: Before her visual update, Infernal Akali used to be Crimson Akali. However, that skin was basically a Chroma, so an overhaul was due.
Appearance and Effects
Infernal Akali is a fiery being. She has horns, charred and fiery skin, plus flaming hair and weapons. When recalling, she breathes fire onto her weapon, throws it up and catches it, and opens her mouth in a silent shout.
From being one of her most basic skins, Infernal Akali is now among her most incredible.
How To Get It
This is another Legacy Skin, so you will have to wait for the Legacy Vault to reopen if you want a chance to get it. Otherwise, just keep playing and taking part in in-game events so you can unlock more Loot and give yourself a slightly better opportunity to open it.
Chromas
Infernal Akali does not have Chromas.
All-Star Akali
Price: 975 RP (When Available)
Release Date: 24th June 2010
Skin Lore
All-Star Akali is a skin for soccer fans. It is set in the Soccer Cup universe, where the champions are either fans, players, judges, or the ball itself.
There are two major teams: Order United and Chaos FC. All-Star Akali is part of Chaos FC, along with:
- Goalkeeper Blitzcrank
- Sweeper Rammus (who is the actual ball)
- Playmaker Lee Sin
All-Star Akali is a legendary player for her team, famous for her aggressive playstyle. Nowadays, she does shoe commercials and mentors youngsters.
All-Star Akali was released for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Other skins that Riot Games released for the same tournament include:
- Red Card Katarina
- Striker Ezreal
- Goalkeeper Blitzcrank
Appearance and Effects
This is the first Akali skin where she does not wear a mask. Instead, she is in full soccer attire, from a jersey to shorts, socks, boots, a soccer bag, and a ball.
When she throws her shuriken, you can see that it has a soccer ball in the middle.
How To Get It
All-Star Akali is yet another skin locked up in the Legacy Vault. However, unless you are a huge soccer fan, I would not say this is such a massive loss: for 975 RP, this skin does not offer so much. But, in the end, how you personally see it is what matters.
Chromas
There are no All-Star Akali Chromas, which feels like a missed opportunity. She could have had Chromas with different-colored jerseys.
Nurse Akali
Price: 975 RP
Release Date: 4th January 2011
Skin Lore
Rift Hospital is an alternate League of Legends universe where champions are medical professionals. It includes Nurse Akali, Surgeon Shen, and Kennen M.D. Nurse Akali is a diabolical medic because the anesthesia she gives you might be the last thing you see.
This skin actually came to be thanks to votes from the game’s community.
Appearance and Effects
Nurse Akali wears a nurse cap, medical mask, a white top, skirt, plus matching socks, and red shoes. She carries a medical bag behind her. Syringes have replaced her kunai, and her other weapons look like scalpels.
How To Get It
You can own Nurse Akali for 975 RP, around $7.
Chromas
Nurse Akali has 8 Chromas:
- Amethyst
- Emerald
- Citrine
- Obsidian
- Rose Quartz
- Rainbow
- Ruby
- Tanzanite
The Chromas change her hair color and costume color.
Blood Moon Akali
Price: 975 RP
Release Date: 7th June 2011
Skin Lore
In this universe set in Ionia, some cultists worship the Blood Moon along with Ionian demons. When the Blood Moon appears, the cultists perform evil rites where they meld demons’ spirits into their flesh. Blood Moon Akali became the first woman to talk to the Blood Moon. She stays far from other cult members, deep in the wood.
Appearance and Effects
Blood Moon Akali wears a red ninja dress with white edges, long blue socks, and a mask that would look normal at a Japanese Noh theater.
She now eats soba noodles instead of her usual food. When she throws her kunai, they have a red animation that fades. The same thing happens when she hurls her shuriken.
How To Get It
Blood Moon Akali is a very colorful skin and is among the best skins you can get for 975 RP. I recommend Blood Moon Akali if you can afford it—if you get it on sale or through Loot, even better.
Chromas
Blood Moon Akali has no Chromas.
Silverfang Akali
Price: 975 RP
Release Date: 29th November 2011
Skin Lore
Silverfang Akali used to be the second-in-command of an assassin clan. Finally, however, she broke free to follow her own path. She patiently waits for the day she will create her own clan.
We still do not know which in-game universe Silverfang Akali belongs to, so hopefully, the developers will flesh this out in the future.
Appearance and Effects
Silverfang Akali represents how she could look if she were a modern-day ninja; her clothes have a military vibe. She has silver hair and wears an armored vest, combat pants, knee guards, boots, and gloves. Her kunai look like military knives, and she carries a rigid box that looks like it contains some powerful weapons.
How To Get It
Silverfang Akali costs 975 RP. I do not consider it equal to Blood Moon Akali—which costs the same—but it is still a good skin for the price. Personal opinion counts here if you have the $7 to spend.
Chromas
Silverfang Akali does not have Chromas.
Headhunter Akali
Price: 1350 RP
Release Date: 23rd March 2015
Skin Lore
The Headhunter universe is clearly inspired by the Predator franchise. It is a dystopian future where alien predators with futuristic gear roam the world. All champions use advanced hunting gear.
Headhunter Akali exclusively hunts those she considers worthy. Then, she attacks them at any time and from anywhere.
Appearance and Effects
Headhunter Akali has pink hair, and her weapons have glowing pink blades. In addition, we can see pink animations when she uses her abilities. Her costume resembles what a Predator would wear: she has a metallic mask with metallic armor. She also carries an inhuman skull behind her.
How To Get It
Headhunter Akali is among her costlier skins at 1350 RP. The skin looks good, but only you can decide if it is worth 1350 RP. Personally, I would wait for a sale.
Chromas
Headhunter Akali has 3 Chromas: Pearl, Ruby, and Tanzanite. The Chromas offer little more than cosmetic changes, but they look good. Ruby is my preference because the difference is more significant than the other two Chromas.
Sashimi Akali
Price: 750 RP
Release Date: 7th September 2016
Skin Lore
What if, instead of killing each other, League of Legends champions were actually trying to out-cook each other? This is the premise of Culinary Masters, where our champions are competing in a cooking show.
Sashimi Akali is a sashimi expert who quickly, silently, and expertly prepares yummy fish.
Appearance and Effects
Sashimi Akali has red hair with a traditional sushi chef headband, a blue robe, black pants, and shoes. She carries a pink box with a cute kitten drawn on it.
Instead of her kunai, she wields sushi knives with engravings on the blades. She also wields a lobster claw in place of her Kama.
How To Get It
Sashimi Akali costs just 750 RP, and it is a good-looking skin. So it is worth getting if you like how it looks.
Chromas
There are no Sashimi Akali Chromas.
K/DA Akali
Price: 1350 RP
Release Date: 3rd November 2018
Skin Lore
In an alternate League of Legends world, K/DA is a hit pop group that rose to fame thanks to their hit song, “POP/STARS.” Ahri is the lead singer and all members of the group plan to go on a world tour.
In real life, K/DA is a virtual K-pop band that’s actually as big a hit as its in-game version. The band’s song, “POP/STARS” (Yes, the one that rocketed them to stardom in the game), has over 500 million YouTube views.
Each real-life band member also has a skin that relates to their alter-ego. K/DA Akali has hard-hitting lyrics and a street aesthetic that sets her apart from her bandmates.
Appearance and Effects
K/DA Akali is dressed in hip-hop attire: an open K/DA cap, a thick jacket, sneakers, and styled pants. Her weapons have golden edges, and she carries a designer bag. She also does not wear her mask on this skin.
As K/DA Akali recalls, she dances, and a dragon symbol appears below her. Plus, when she uses her abilities, we can see colorful effects complementing them.
How To Get It
K/DA Akali can be yours for 1350 RP, which is just under $10. It is a worthy purchase if you like K/DA’s music and the skin ticks the right boxes for you.
Chromas
It is surprising that it does not come with Chromas for such a high-profile skin.
Prestige K/DA Akali
Price: N/A
Release Date: 6th December 2018
Skin Lore
As you might naturally assume, Prestige K/DA Akali is a limited-edition skin of K/DA Akali. Prestige K/DA Akali is the costume she wears during the Pop Music Awards, spitting rhymes and solos.
As it happens, Riot Games released this skin as a reaction to the fast-rising popularity of K/DA Akali.
Appearance and Effects
Prestige K/DA Akali is more of a Chroma than a whole new skin. However, it does an exemplary job at looking distinct.
She now wears a white open cap with KDA engraved in gold, and her jacket is fluffier, gold on the outside and white on the inside. Plus, the jacket also has a dragon pattern on the back. Her pants and shoes are white with some gold parts. Her bag is also gold, and her weapons have blue blades.
When she recalls, she dances in the same style as K/DA Akali to the tune of a K/DA song. However, in the end, she turns into her neon version. She also turns neon when hidden in her smoke shroud.
How To Get It
Since Prestige K/DA Akali is a limited-edition skin, you cannot get it even when the Legacy Vault reopens. However, the Mythic Shop might have it in the future. To get it, you will need Mythic Essence, which you can obtain:
- Every 50 levels
- Through Hextech Chests
- Through Masterwork Chests
- Through Milestone Missions
Chromas
Prestige K/DA Akali does not have Chromas.
PROJECT: Akali
Price: 1350 RP
Release Date: 1st August 2019
Skin Lore
The PROJECT universe takes place in a cyberpunk city featuring mechanized AI and cybernetically enhanced humans.
PROJECT: Akali is a subject who escaped the city and recruited allies from the wastelands after warning them of a superweapon. They come together to bring down the mega-corporation, but suspicions linger that she could be a double agent.
Appearance and Effects
PROJECT: Akali looks about as futuristic as you might expect. She wears a red mask that fully covers her face, her hair is neon blue, and her weapons are neon red. In addition, she is fully covered in a futuristic white-and-grey costume. And on her back, you can see a neon dragon.
In her joke animation, she removes her mask before she starts to eat. And when recalling, she holsters her weapons—the blades vanish—removes her mask, summons a hologram of various buildings, and three droids appear from above. The droids form a triangle of red lasers between them, use it to scan PROJECT: Akali—this turns her red in turn—and she finally recalls.
When she uses her shroud, she glows a neon red as she moves in it—only her blue hair remains the same color.
How To Get It
PROJECT: Akali is a bit on the expensive side at 1350 RP. However, it does plenty to justify its cost. This is one skin you will not regret buying.
Chromas
PROJECT: Akali has 9 different Chromas:
- Turquoise
- Amethyst
- Obsidian
- Catseye
- Sapphire
- Ruby
- Rose Quartz
- Reckoning
- Pearl
The Chromas change the colors of her hair, blades, and costumes. Because of the neon effect, each Chroma looks spectacular. They are all worth the cost if you have the spare cash.
True Damage Akali
Price: 1350 RP
Release Date: 10th November 2019
Skin Lore
True Damage is another virtual band in League of Legends.
After K/DA became a global success, Akali decided to form a new supergroup with up-and-coming artists. True Damage is a rival to K/DA, but their style is a bit different. It also has an entirely different lineup apart from Akali.
The other band members include:
- True Damage Ekko
- True Damage Qiyana
- True Damage Senna
- True Yasuo
Appearance and Effects
True Damage Akali’s costume is a bit more punk than hip-hop. Her costume is multi-colored: there are shades of black, green, white, and red. She has slung a gas mask down her neck.
When recalling, she dances to the tune of True Damage music. A neon dragon even appears, and she also turns neon. There are cool particle effects when she uses her abilities, including her passive. Just like K/DA Akali, she also turns neon when inside her shroud.
And if you leave True Damage Akali dancing long enough, she will start dancing in the K/DA style.
How To Get It
True Damage Akali is another costly skin at 1350 RP. However, it is easily worth the cost for the number of changes they have added.
Chromas
There are 7 Chromas for True Damage Akali:
- Catseye
- Freestyle
- Pearl
- Emerald
- Sapphire
- Rose Quartz
- Ruby
In my opinion, the Chromas are more vivid than the original skin and are worth it.
K/DA ALL OUT Akali
Price: 1350 RP
Release Date: 29th October 2020
Skin Lore
K/DA ALL OUT Akali continues Akali’s music career. She has just made it big with her band, True Damage, and she returns to K/DA with a new direction that takes the band to a whole new level.
Appearance and Effects
K/DA ALL OUT Akali is more colorful than ever. Thanks to her multi-hued hair, jacket, purse, pants, and weapons, she stands out.
Her dance emoji is borrowed from her K/DA dance, with music playing in the background. Something similar happens when she recalls: music plays as lights appear around her, and a stage rises from the ground below her. She spins her weapon around, then recalls.
And when she uses her smoke shroud, she also turns neon.
How To Get It
You can own K/DA ALL OUT Akali for 1350 RP. All her K/DA skins do more than some costlier skins, so get it if you can. And if you can unlock it through Loot, that would be a steal.
Chromas
K/DA ALL OUT Akali has 8 Chromas:
- Catseye
- BADDEST
- Pearl
- Peridot
- Tanzanite
- Sapphire
- Ruby
- Rose Quartz
They enhance Akali’s looks and make her stand out even more. Definitely worth the purchase.
Crime City Nightmare Akali
Price: 1350 RP
Release Date: 26th August 2021
Skin Lore
Crime City Nightmare is an alternate Valoran City where mobsters fight for control. However, a mysterious figure brings their attention to an ancient evil that exposes them to unearthly corruption that they can use against each other.
Crime City Nightmare Akali, an enforcer for Graves’ family, took the deal from the stranger. Her corrupted form makes her ruthless as she looks for a balance that even she cannot yet understand.
Appearance and Effects
Crime City Nightmare Akali’s costume screams mafia with her white pinstriped suit. When recalling, she produces an orb, slams it into the ground, and changes into a dark form with a smiling face. A big eye appears below her. She jumps on it, then the recall ends.
Akali also enters her shadowy form when she is inside her smoke shroud.
How To Get It
At 1350 RP, Crime City Nightmare Akali feels just a tad expensive. However, this skin is still excellent if you can afford it.
Chromas
- There are 9 Crime City Nightmare Akali Chromas:
- Catseye
- Obsidian
- Emerald
- Pearl
- Ruby
- Rose Quartz
- Tanzanite
- Underground
- Sapphire

Question: Which Is The Rarest Akali Skin?
Answer: Prestige K/DA Akali is her rarest skin. You cannot unlock it through the store, and it will not even be available when the Legacy Vault reopens. The only ways to get Prestige K/DA Akali are through Loot and waiting for it to appear on the Mythic Shop.

• Buy them with Riot Points, which needs real money.
• Unlock them through Loot and Hextech Crafting (random and depends on luck).

• Buy Hextech or Masterwork bundles and hope they have her skins. However, I do not recommend this method—even if you have money to burn—because it feels like gambling.

Akali Skins Guide: Conclusion
Akali is an excellent champion with 14 beautiful skins. Each skin will appeal to someone different, so there is no such thing as awful Akali skins, not since her rework.
The K/DA-related skins might hog all the attention, but they are premium skins that not everyone can afford. Akali’s more affordable skins offer something different, and if you can get one with a Chroma, even better.
With so many options, though, you might want to test them out before spending your hard-earned money. You can do this through the Public Beta Environment (PBE). Here, you can test every Akali skin—even the Legacy and Limited Edition ones—and decide if they are worth the price.
Whatever you choose, Akali’s range of skins grant her an added dimension that should make your gameplay more fun.
