- Irelia Skins Guide - April 15, 2022
Irelia is a League of Legends champion who is either hit or miss. She has a significant amount of early game damage, but whether this carries over to the late game depends on her farm and KDR (Kill to Death Ratio).
You have to become a lane bully early on to force your opponent to farm less and hopefully rack up some kills. However, you might be susceptible to a gank unless you freeze the lane. And if your lane opponent gets more fed than you, the mid to late game will be a challenge.
Some players love this thrill, and often main Irelia. After all, she can easily carry the game if she is fed. For such players, getting a skin is essential; they want to stand out in how they look and how they play.
Bottom Line Upfront
With 11 skins (including Rare and Legacy skins), Irelia has a pretty good selection. Her standout skin is Divine Sword Irelia. For 1350 RP, the skin does plenty with her effects, clothes, abilities, and even her recall animation. It is easily worth its cost.
Alternatively, Nightblade Irelia is a great-looking skin at a mere 520 RP. You cannot mess up with either of these skins, but the others are also worth looking at. That’s why I’ve arranged them here in the order of release date. Naturally, we have to start with the original skin to know what we are comparing it to.
So, without further ado, let’s look at Irelia skins!
Original Irelia
Price: 880 RP (Riot Points)/4800 BE (Blue Essence)
Release Date: 16th November 2010
Champion Lore
After Noxia occupied Ionia, many Ionian heroes rose up. But, even among them, Irelia of Navori stood out. She mastered her province’s ancient dances and used this art for battle. This allowed her to levitate and control several blades, making her a lethal opponent.
Her fighting prowess soon made her a figurehead and resistance leader. And until now, she has fought to protect Ionia.
Appearance and Effects
Irelia’s attire looks reminiscent of Chinese ribbon dancers. However, gray armor has been added in several parts. There are also several gray blades levitating around her. She also has blue hair that reaches down to her waist.
Her blades move around when she uses her abilities, and sometimes they multiply.
How to Get It
You can own Irelia for 880 RP (around $6.7). However, I strongly advise against buying Irelia with RP, even if you have the money. You can unlock Irelia just by playing games and gaining Blue Essence. In addition, you can unlock Irelia through Loot, and you can play her for free when she is next available in the game’s champion rotation.
Chromas
The original Irelia skin does not have Chromas.
Nightblade Irelia
Price: 520 RP
Release Date: 16th November 2010
Skin Lore
To get the Noxians out of her land, Irelia struck a deal with an evil spirit. However, this deal had an unfortunate effect: she began to lose her humanity.
Appearance and Effects
Nightblade Irelia’s costume is a shade of purple, her hair is silver, and she wears a mask that covers her face’s lower half. Her armor, now a darker gray, is also spiked.
How to Get It
At 520 RP (under $5), Nightblade Irelia is a great skin for the price (520 RP). There are champions with more expensive skins that look less distinct. If you can afford Nightblade Irelia, get it.
Chromas
So far, there are no Nighblade Irelia Chromas.
Aviator Irelia
Price: 520 RP
Release Date: 16th November 2010
Skin Lore
What if Irelia was an early 20th-century aviator?
Aviator Irelia is a skilled war pilot considered among the greatest in history, thanks to her unmatched dogfighting skills. The war ended, but she never stopped flying fighter planes. As a result, her skills have never waned.
Aviator Irelia could reference Amelia Earhart, the first woman aviator to fly alone over the Atlantic Ocean.
Appearance and Effects
Aviator Irelia is dressed up as an aviator, complete with a bomber hat and goggles. Her blades have also changed; they now resemble airplane propellers.
How to Get It
At 520 RP, Aviator Irelia can be yours. This is more than a simple skin change, so it is worth its cost.
Chromas
Unfortunately, Aviator Irelia does not have Chromas. This feels like a missed chance since an aviator can be as colorful as the developers can make her.
Infiltrator Irelia
Price: 975 RP (When Available)
Release Date: 11th October 2011
Skin Lore
In the Silver Age universe, champions from the game are superheroes or villains. Infiltrator Irelia is among the latter. Other villains include:
- Cryocore Brand
- Bioforge Darius
- Toxic Dr. Mundo
- Augmented Singed
- Chemtech Tryndamere
- Superb Villain Veigar
- Feral Warwick
Infiltrator Irelia uses hard-light blades and technologically superior devices for her espionage missions and heists.
Appearance and Effects
Infiltrator Irelia wears a bodysuit with a gauntlet, waist-length hair, and a villainous mask covering her eyes. Her hard-light blades are purple and have distinct shapes.
When she uses her passive ability, Ionian Fervor, her blades light up.
How to Get It
Infiltrator Irelia is a Legacy Skin, so you cannot currently buy it from the store. However, you can unlock it through Loot or wait for the Legacy Vault to reopen.
Chromas
Infiltrator Irelia does not have Chromas.
Frostblade Irelia
Price: 975 RP
Release Date: 30th April 2012
Skin Lore
Snowdown Showdown and Winter Wonder skins celebrate winter. Additionally, champions with relevant skins often have something to do with snow.
Frostblade Irelia, for instance, is an ice sprite that comes from the Winterlands. While other ice sprites and mischievous, she is reserved. Despite this, she dreams of working in the Poro King’s court one day.
While still in development, the Riot team members internally referred to her as “Frost Booty.” This was because of the ample size of her behind.
Appearance and Effects
Frostblade Irelia wears tight-fitting blue winter clothing and armor with icy blue hair. Her swords also look crystalline.
When recalling, she spins her blades, thrusts them to the ground, then lifts them up to form a big snowflake shape. Her abilities also have icy effects when she casts them.
How to Get It
Frostblade Irelia costs 975 RP (around $7.50). The skin might be worth it if you like the way it looks, but that is entirely subjective.
Chromas
Frostblade Irelia has one Chroma: Golden. The Chroma changes most of her costume from an icy blue to a golden brown, though her hair and swords remain the same color. But the Chroma does not change enough in my books. However, if it floats your boat, it will undoubtedly enhance her looks.
Order of the Lotus Irelia
Price: 750 RP
Release Date: 3rd June 2015
Skin Lore
Each champion is a member of the eponymous Order in the Order of the Lotus universe.
Irelia encountered the Order of the Lotus only once. However, this was enough to alter her life. Her mind opened up to the cosmic cycles of rebirth and death that happen over multiple lifetimes. While she remains a fierce and driven warrior, she now fights with the understanding that her soul will never really perish.
Appearance and Effects
Order of the Lotus Irelia has long purple hair, a pink top, blue pants, and knee-high boots. Emeralds have been integrated into her clothes in several places.
How to Get It
You can unlock Order of the Lotus Irelia for 750 RP. It is not a costly skin by any means. However, it might not be everyone’s cup of tea since it is just a cosmetic change.
Chromas
There are no Chromas for Order of the Lotus Irelia.
Divine Sword Irelia
Price: 1350 RP
Release Date: 4th September 2018
Skin Lore
In League of Legends’ Immortal Journey universe, the champions we know and love are Spiritual champions who use potent weapons.
Divine Sword Irelia was once a demigoddess. She challenged a stubborn dragon king to a duel and won the fight. However, since she beat him in front of his entire court, he struck out in anger and shame. In return, though, she used her sacred blade to seal away his powers. This would teach him humility.
Appearance and Effects
Divine Sword Irelia is among the champion’s most striking skins. She has long blue hair, a white top, matching thigh-highs, white sleeves, and matching swords.
When recalling, she does a dance with her blades, then a golden dragon appears. She jumps onto the dragon, and it flies away. Her other abilities and emojis also look spectacular on this skin.
Divine Sword Irelia is the kind of skin you will choose repeatedly.
How to Get It
Divine Sword Irelia can be yours for 1350 RP, or about $10. This is a premium skin with a matching price tag, so I would not recommend going too out of your way just to get it.
Divine Sword Irelia is among the best skins you can get for the price of any champion in League of Legends.
Chromas
There are 7 Divine Sword Irelia Chromas:
- Aquamarine
- Amethyst
- Meteorite
- Emerald
- Ruby
- Rose Quartz
- Obsidian
The Chromas change her hair, sword, and costume colors in distinct ways. They are definitely worth getting.
iG Irelia
Price: 1350 RP (When Available)
Release Date: 23rd April 2019
Skin Lore
World Championship skins celebrate the winners of the annual League of Legends World Championship.
iG skins celebrate Invictus Gaming’s 2018 triumph. They include:
- iG Irelia
- iG Camille
- iG Rakan
- iG LeBlanc
- iG Kai’sa
- iG Fiora
In particular, iG Irelia celebrates the winning performance we got from Duke. This skin is actually the second one awarded to Duke; he has another skin that follows his 2016 World Championship win with SKT.
Appearance and Effects
The blonde-haired iG Irelia dons a white and gray top with gray thigh-highs.
When recalling, she performs a dance, and Duke’s signature appears in blue. Her blades then form a staircase, and she climbs. When she reaches the top, she leaps down, then black wings appear on her back, and she flies off.
Duke himself thought of the recall animation.
And when she attacks, we can see black feathers scattering around.
How To Get It
Unfortunately, since iG Irelia is a Legacy Skin, buying it right now is not possible. However, keep an eye peeled for the next time Riot Games will unlock the Legacy Vault: that will be your chance to get it. Otherwise, you will have to rely on opening iG Irelia through Loot, which is always a gamble.
Chromas
There is no iG Irelia Chroma.
PROJECT: Irelia
Price: 1350 RP
Release Date: 1st August 2019
Skin Lore
Multiple humans have received augmentations from mechanized AI and cybernetic enhancements in a futuristic cyberpunk world. Unfortunately, war is currently raging between AI and these cybernetically enhanced humans.
PROJECT: Irelia is a modified human who was cast away and forced to survive in the wastes. She has become a leader to other outcasts as they try to survive the ecological collapse, the murderous tech from the old world, and corporate assassins.
She knows that the weaponized PROJECT: Warwick is after her and can destroy everything she values, so she attacks the city to destroy PROJECT.
Appearance and Effects
PROJECT: Irelia’s look is naturally futuristic. She wears a gray top with pants, matching boots, and a cloak with a pink visor. Her blades are predominantly pink—and they glow. This pink effect shows when she uses her abilities.
When she recalls, androids fly down and scan her with lasers. They then pinpoint her and attack her. However, she kicks away some of their lasers and spins so fast her blades form a wall around her. She then smashes energy onto the ground that destroys the droids.
How To Get It
You can own PROJECT: Irelia for 1350 RP. However, this is a bit expensive, and other Irelia skins that cost 1350 RP are also excellent (especially Divine Sword Irelia). So, getting this skin should be your personal choice (but that would be a steal if you get it through Loot).
Chromas
There are no PROJECT: Irelia Chromas.
Prestige PROJECT: Irelia
Price: N/A
Release Date: 1st August 2019
Skin Lore
As the Prestige version of PROJECT: Irelia, this skin follows the same lore. However, the difference is that Prestige PROJECT: Irelia sometimes remembers who she used to be before being exiled by PROJECT. The memories don’t stick, but they are there.
Appearance and Effects
This costume is not too different from PROJECT: Irelia. However, the color difference is more defined, her blades are more translucent and glow more, and she has white hair, which is no longer hidden by her mask by default.
When Prestige PROJECT: Irelia recalls, her animation is still the same. However, the androids that attack her have a similar color scheme to hers.
Her abilities also use pink and yellow effects.
How to Get It
Prestige PROJECT: Irelia is a mythic item, so the only way you can get it now is through the Mythic Shop (you will have to wait for the skin to arrive at the shop, though).
Chromas
Prestige PROJECT: Irelia does not have any Chromas.
High Noon Irelia
Price: 1350 RP
Release Date: 18th June 2020
Skin Lore
High Noon Gothic is a western-inspired alternate universe in League of Legends. Here, champions are either heroes, creatures, or villains.
High Noon Irelia is a fallen angel. When Heaven was destroyed, she managed to escape. However, she did not leave unscathed: darkness tainted her.
She spent many years in hiding but has finally emerged from the shadows with a resurrected Senna. This hints toward powers that either want to help humanity or destroy them.
Appearance and Effects
Raven-haired High Noon Irelia wears a dark top with matching pants and boots, and she has wings now. Her blades also have a rustic look to them.
When she recalls, shadowy hands emerge from the ground and try to snatch her. Despite her struggles, the shadows grab her. But she eventually overpowers them by drawing on light from the heavens above her. She then flies into the air in her radiant angelic form.
You can also see this angelic form when you maximize the stacks of her passive.
How to Get It
High Noon Irelia is available for 1350 RP, making it another expensive skin. However, this one has earned its high cost.
Chromas
High Noon Irelia has 7 Chromas:
- Tanzanite
- Emerald
- Obsidian
- Pearl
- Rose Quartz
- Ruby
- Sapphire
They are all worth buying if you can afford them.
Sentinel Irelia
Price: 1350 RP
Release Date: 8th July 2021
Skin Lore
Irelia is part of the Sentinels of Light: ancient hunters whose members are protecting Runeterra from the Shadow Isles’ undying wraiths.
The Black Mist ravaged Irelia’s home and destroyed the Ionian Grand Temple. She now fights as a comrade to the Sentinels against Ruined Karma.
Appearance and Effects
Sentinel Irelia has long black hair and matching black and gray clothes.
When recalling, she summons stone pillars that she then pulls together. Finally, they turn into her blades, and she finishes her recall.
She basically turns into light when using her Q ability as she attacks her enemy. She also glows after reaching her passive ability’s maximum stacks.
How to Get It
Sentinel Irelia costs 1350 RP, and it does a lot for the price. You could do worse than this lovely skin.
Chromas
There are 9 Sentinel Irelia Chromas:
- Citrine
- Turquoise
- Emerald
- Tanzanite
- Pearl
- Resolute
- Sapphire
- Rose Quartz
- Ruby
