Yasuo Skins Guide

Latest posts by Stefan Stevanovic (see all)

Yasuo, the Unforgiven, is a fighter champion with a very steep learning curve. He has a mixture of offensive and defensive abilities that allow him to adapt to various situations on the field. Although not the newest champion, Yasuo isn’t one of the oldest ones. He was first introduced in 2013 and is among the more popular fighters (this might vary based on the patch).

Key Info Up Front

At this moment, there are 12 cosmetics available for the champion. Some of them are really badass such as Prestige True Damage Yasuo, Battle Boss Yasuo, and Spirit Blossom Yasuo. Unlike other champions, who usually have a few funny cosmetics, most of Yasuo’s skins are really serious, which goes well with his relentless, stoic persona.

Original Yasuo

Skin Lore

Yasuo is renowned for his incredible focus and resolve. This master swordsman can summon the power of the wind to vanquish his enemies.

The champion has been haunted by a tragedy since his early days. After being accused of a crime he didn’t commit, Yasuo had to battle his own brother leading to a tragic outcome. Even though the wrongdoer was ultimately brought to justice, up to this day, Yasuo cannot forgive himself for the events that occurred on that day.

Appearance and Model

Yasuo is most likely meant to refer to legendary swordsman Musashi. That being said, the skin looks precisely how you would expect a samurai to look. His color scheme combines blue and black, with some brown and silver.

The champion wears sandals that transition into leggings. He has baggie dark blue pants on top with a beautiful wind pattern. The Unforgiven wears a long katana on his left hip, where his brown belt is. You can notice that the champion’s scabbard is nicely decorated, which can also be said for the hilt of his sword.

Yasuo’s left part of the body is uncovered. He wears a long belt under his blue wind garment. The champion has heavy armguards on both of his arms and a majestic left spikey pauldron with spikey wind decoration. Lastly, the Unforgiven has a flask on his back and a massive ponytail.

Base animations

Pros

  • Wind details are great.
  • I like the sword design as well as the face.

Cons

  • While I do like numerous details, they look a bit conflicting.

High Noon Yasuo

Image from Fandom

Price: 975

Skin Lore

After his banishment from the Eastern lands, Yasuo has become a sheriff of a small two-street town. A person who likes to keep to himself, the Unforgiven staved off numerous predators who were threatening its inhabitants.

Appearance and Model

The chroma item comes in sapphire, emerald, amethyst, jasper, and obsidian color. It is a part of the High Noon theme alongside High Noon Twisted Fate, High Noon Senna, Bandito Fiddlesticks, High Noon Ashe, High Noon Hecarim, High Noon Jhin, Cowgirl Miss Fortune, High Noon Darius, High Noon Lucian, Desperada Cassiopeia, High Noon Urgot, Sonoran Kog’Maw, Sandscourge Skarner, Sheriff Caitlyn, High Noon Thresh, High Noon Irelia, and Longhorn Alistar.

The cosmetic is a reference to spaghetti western. One of the coolest details about this skin is the sword which has a riffle-like hilt. Yasuo wears brown leather boots with spurs and reinforced kneecaps. The champion has blue jeans underneath and a lasso on his left hip.

The Unforgiven has a brown belt with a star buckle, an alcoholic beverage behind his back, and a bullet belt on his left shoulder. Yasuo wears a white t-shirt, brown gloves, and a red poncho. The hat on his head looks a bit silly, just because there is a large set of hair behind it.

Visual Effects (VFX) and Sound Effects (SFX)

Steel Tempest utilizes a yellow color pattern with a bit of black. It leaves an orange/black effect at the point of strike. It also creates a yellow tornado instead of a blue one. When striking the ground to create Wind Wall, Yasuo leaves a burning mark. The wall is yellow instead of blue.

Sweeping Blade leaves a yellow trail in Yasuo’s wake. When hitting a target, there is a large bursting visual on top of an enemy. Last Breath creates a yellow tornado. During his attack, Yasuo will leave black/orange marking on enemies that he hits.

Animations

Yasuo’s basic strikes create a wide blue swing visual, yellow sparks, and a small blue whirlwind at the point of impact. When using Recall, Yasuo drinks from his bottle, after which he throws it into the air and shoots it down with his rifle-sword.

Pros

  • Rifle- sword is unique.
  • Slight improvement to basic effects.
  • Very cheap for all the modifications that it provides.

Cons

  • His knees are a bit bulky as if he suffered an injury.

PROJECT: Yasuo

Image from Fandom

Price: 1,350

Skin Lore

Yasuo was falsely accused of murder after returning to base. The Unforgiven knew that the corporate heads were somehow involved in this. The champion utilizes high-tech bestowed upon him to join the G/NETIC rebels and uncover the truth.

Appearance and Model

This skin is a part of a massive PROJECT theme that features numerous champions such as Jinx, Vayne, Sejuani, Pyke, Vi, Yi, Ashe, Akali, Varu,s, etc.

Like all champions from this set, Yasuo wields sci-fi weaponry. The designers initially wanted to create him as Cyber Ops Yasuo, but they changed their minds somewhere along the way. He resembles numerous combatants from the Metal Gear Solid series.

For the most part, the champion’s whole body is covered in metal plating. The Unforgiven wears metal boots that go all the way to his knees, has a reinforced waist guard, torso armor, shoulder guards (with a massive left pauldron), and a left metallic glove. The suit combines silver and orange colors.

Yasuo wears a metallic flash on his back, as well as two orange grenades. His silver katana is sheeted in a futuristic scabbard, while his head is protected by a square helmet with an orange frontal visor for the eyes and mouth. Yasuo wears a brown bandana and has long white hair.

Visual Effects (VFX) and Sound Effects (SFX)

Steel Tempest leaves a straight orange trail in its wake. Stacks create an orange, futuristic effect under Yasuo’s feet. The champion releases an orange whirlwind that leaves a square effect upon impact. Wind Wall is orange and looks like it’s made from some futuristic material.

Sweeping Blade leaves an orange fade silhouette. Last Breath strikes leave orange/black circular markings around targets.

Animations

The champion has a few new cool emotes. His basic strikes leave an orange mark at the point of impact. During Recall animation, he does a handstand and balances the blade on his foot.

Pros

  • The effects are pretty cool. I’m especially impressed by Wind Wall.
  • Dark gray and orange outfit colors look dope.

Cons

  • Helmet sucks.

Blood Moon Yasuo

Image from Fandom

Price: 975

Skin Lore

Serving the Blood Moon Cult, Yasuo’s main role is to execute the disobedient ones. His blade is home to a bloodthirsty demon whose hunger cannot be satiated. Yasuo embraces the entity as it complements his dark personality. In time, the champion managed to turn this dark being into his personal tool.

Appearance and Model

Like other pieces from Blood Moon set, this one is inspired by Noh theater. The other skins from the collection include Blood Moon Evelynn, Blood Moon Pyke, Blood Moon Thresh, Blood Moon Elise, Blood Moon Aatrox, Blood Moon Master Yi, Blood Moon Zilean, and many others.

Yasuo wears sandals with red leggings. His knees, thighs, and torso are covered by silver armor made from numerous plates and with golden edges. The edges are made in the shape of a golden wind. The Unforgiven wears a large rope belt around his waist and has a traditional scabbard that holds katana with a red hilt.

The characters wear a long black shirt beneath his armor, while his wrists are guarded with golden/red protectors. He also has leather gloves, a red velvet around his left shoulder, and an oversized left shoulder guard. The champion’s white mask looks really menacing, as does the red ponytail with white strands of hair.

Visual Effects (VFX) and Sound Effects (SFX)

Way of the Wanderer creates a red shield around the champion that looks like floating blood. Upon gaining stacks of Steel Tempest, a red spiritual residue appears under his feet. Once he gets enough stacks, he casts a red whirlwind in a vector direction.

During Wind Wall cast, Yasuo slashes the ground leaving a red mark. This creates a red wall in front of the champion. Sweeping Blade creates a bursting circular effect at the starting dashing point. While the target is affected by the debuff, there will be an expiring red circle around them. Repeatedly striking with Last Breath creates red visual effects and a spiral on the ground.

Animations

During the Recall animation, Yasuo throws yellow dust on the ground. He follows up with a blade dance, thus activating the dust and summoning a red spiritual emblem beneath his feet. Yasuo’s basic strikes leave a red/black trail behind the sword and have a puncturing sound effect upon impact. You can even notice small splashes of blood.

Pros

  • Blood effects are awesome.
  • The armor and other body details synergize well with each other.

Cons

  • Although the mask is great as a stand-alone item, it looks off with other pieces.

Nightbringer Yasuo

Image from Fandom

Price: 1,820

Skin Lore

Yasuo is the purest representation of cosmic chaos. His sole purpose is to continuously battle with the Dawnbringer until, one day, his darkness overcomes her light.

Appearance and Model

This theme is a part of the Order Versus chaos collection. Yasuo battles Dawnbringer Riven, and his skin is meant to resemble Soul Calibur’s Nightmare.

Nightbringer Yasuo is one of the most ominous cosmetics for the champion. He has pointy heeled shoes and a big baggie of dark blue pants with brown wings on their sides. The champion wears a golden belt and has a drinking horn on his back. The Unforgiven’s torso is uncovered, showing Yasuo’s charred ashy body.

Instead of the usual katana, the champion wears a curved black tucked away within a black/gold scabbard. Yasuo’s hands, shoulders, and head are also an indication of his chaotic heritage. To be specific, his hands look as if submerged in the fire, while he has natural spikey bones on his shoulders. The champion’s ears are pointy, and he has glowing orange eyes.

The character’s left shoulder is protected with a massive golden shoulder guard. Yasuo wears something that can be described as a mixture of a tiara and a helmet. The champion’s hair is a bit shorter compared to the base model, and it utilizes dark blue and orange shades.

Image from Fandom

Visual Effects (VFX) and Sound Effects (SFX)

Way of the Wanderer creates a flaming spiral barrier around the champion. Steel Tempest effects are also incredible. The champion’s sword creates a massive elongated trail after the puncture. The whirlwind creates by the spell looks as if it’s on fire.

Wind Wall is actually a fire wall, while Sweeping Blade leaves black straight lines in his wake. Upon hitting an enemy, there will be a circular orange effect around their body. During Last Breath, the champion’s sword briefly gains a massive yellow glow. Upon hitting an enemy, a fire spiral takes them into the air, after which they’re dropped onto the magma ground.

Upon activating Last Breath, the champion’s body turns completely black with the exception of his hair, sword, and scabbard, which are orange.

Animations

Nightbringer Yasuo has a few interesting emotes. In some of them, he plays with small fiery spirits, which is really cute. When using Recall, the champion will smack his head with a fiery object, which starts his transformation into a full-fledged demon. Yasuo attacks in a wide arc, leaving a massive fiery trail after each sword swing.

Pros

  • Probably the best effects of them all. A lot of time was invested in this one.
  • The transformation effect looks villainous.

Cons

  • No complaints.

Odyssey Yasuo

Image from Fandom

Price: 1,350

Skin Lore

It was never Yasuo’s idea to become a pirate. However, after being accused of his brother’s murder, he had no choice but to leave his old life behind. Yasuo now leads a band of space outlaws, constantly being chased by bounty hunters and military units.

Appearance and Model

The skin is a part of the Odyssey theme. The collection also features Odyssey Ziggs, Odyssey Malphite, Odyssey Jinx, Odyssey Kha’Zix, Odyssey Aatrox, Galaxy Slayer Zed, Odyssey Sivir, Odyssey Twisted Fate, Odyssey Kayn, Odyssey Sona, and Odyssey Karma. It comes in tanzanite, pearl, sapphire, ruby, obsidian, and rose quartz colors.

The first thing you’ll notice with this cosmetic is that Yasuo, instead of the usual large pauldron, has a massive blue space lizard on his shoulder. The Unforgiven has brown boots and leggings that smoothly transition into blue baggie pants. He has a couple of belts around his waist, one of which holds a flask.

The champion’s sword is also awesome. It is red, the same color as the scabbard, with a few green/yellow details. The weapon is strangely curved in several places. Yasuo wears a brown sleeveless shirt and has a massive red/orange shoulder piece covering his upper back and right shoulder. Honestly, this clothing object looks like something from the Warhammer franchise.

Yasuo wears a jaw guard, gray goggles with blue lenses, and a long light blue hair with golden trinkets in it.

Visual Effects (VFX) and Sound Effects (SFX)

Way of the Wanderer shield is yellow/green, with small yellow dots around it. When using Steel Tempest, the champion’s body briefly turns yellow. The puncture leaves a yellow/green color behind it. Gaining stacks creates the same colored wind around the champion, and it releases a green/yellow tornado. Wind Wall is light blue and looks very futuristic.

Sweeping Blade leaves a green/yellow trail in the champion’s wake and at the point of impact. Upon connecting with an enemy, Yasuo performs a small twirl around his axis. The debuff on creates an interrupted blue ring around the opponent’s body.

When using Last Breath, the Unforgiven jumps into the air as his body turns green. After a few slashes, a beam-like effect descends upon the affected enemies.

Animations

During Recall, three glowing orbs are released in Yasuo’s vicinity. He proceeds by slashing each one of them, after which he is teleported to base. His basic strikes are pretty awesome, leaving an upward yellow slash with an additional light blue effect on its intersection.

Pros

  • I love the colors utilized for visual effects.
  • The lizard is a nice change compared to the standard pauldron.
  • Sword and scabbard are nice, as well.

Cons

  • The outfit looks a bit dull.

Battle Boss Yasuo

Image from Fandom

Price: 1,350

Skin Lore

When Veigar took over Arcadia, he specifically targeted Yasuo. Converted by his code, the champion now serves the forces of evil, utilizing various devastating attacks to strike down the forces of light.

Appearance and Model

The skin is a part of Arcade: Battle Bosses collection that also includes Battle Boss Ziggs, Battle Boss Qiyana, Battle Boss Brand, Battle Boss Blitzcrank, Final Boss Veigar, and Battle Boss Malzahar. The chromas available include ruby, aquamarine, amethyst, meteorite, rose quartz, Catseye, obsidian, and K.O.

Like all other items from the set, Yasuo has a futuristic theme. He has stylish black sneakers with purple bottom, dark grey socks, and dark blue/gray pants. The Unforgiven wears a belt that almost looks like a fragmented skirt with a pink power potion in the back and an amethyst buckle in front.

Yasuo has futuristic armor, a green/blue chest piece, and an intense blue jacket. His right hand is blue, and he wears a purple bracelet, while his right hand is green with a green spiked bracelet. The skin features a glass green/blue shoulder guard on the left shoulder.

The champion has a massive purple scabbard. As for the sword, it has a green/purple hilt and looks pretty incredible. To round up this appearance, Yasuo has bright green eyes, blue eyebrows, and multicolored hair.

Visual Effects (VFX) and Sound Effects (SFX)

The champion’s voice is much deeper, more menacing. Steel Tempest creates an awesome pixelated visual effect. Upon gaining enough charges, his body turns bright blue with a dark blue aura enveloping the champion. There is also a cool sound effect to go with the visuals. Yasuo’s tornado is dark purple/blue and leaves small cubes on the ground.

Wind Wall is also purple, pixelated, and accompanied by a similar futuristic sound effect. Sweeping Blade turns the champion’s body bright blue for a brief moment. The debuff creates a pixelated circle around a target. After using the Last Breath combo, squares appear beneath the opponent’s feet. His passive creates a purple, pixelated shield.

Animations

When using Recall, a pixelated pig appears in his close proximity. After trying to slash it a few times, the pig turns green, and two of them are sent to base. The champion’s basic strikes leave deep purple/black slashes with small residual cubes.

Pros

  • Great color combinations.
  • The effects are pretty awesome (especially the sound effects)
  • I like his hair.

Cons

  • No complaints.

True Damage Yasuo

Image from Fandom

Price: 1,350

Skin Lore

Yasuo is a producer that has been in the business for a while. Many young talents look up to him for inspiration. The champion creates sounds that can penetrate space and time barriers. Rarely looking for collaborations or support, he dedicates himself to True Damage as a platform that can forever change the face of the music.

Appearance and Model

True Damage Yasuo is a part of the same-named theme that features True Damage Senna, True Damage Ekko, True Damage Akali, True Damage Qiyana, Prestige True Damage Yasuo, Prestige True Damage Senna, and Prestige True Damage Qiyana. It comes in ruby, Catseye, aquamarine, freestyle, pearl, obsidian, and amethyst.

The skin combines black, light blue, and dark green colors. Yasuo wears dark boots and dark baggie pants. He has a massive dark green jacket with intricate patterns that somewhat resemble military style. This outfit has a zipper in front and a massive disc logo on the back. Yasuo is always ready for an energetic performance, which you can tell by the water bottle that he carries around.

His scabbard is black/blue with letters and logos. Instead of the shoulder guard, he wears miniature woofers. The Unforgiven’s face is covered with a black/blue mask, and he has large white earmuffs and long brown hair.

Visual Effects (VFX) and Sound Effects (SFX)

Way of the Wanderer creates a revolving blue shield. Steel Tempest strikes leave a blue mark behind. As he gains stacks, a blue aura appears around the champion, followed by techno music. The Steel Tempest whirlwind is more of an upward spiral than anything else.

Wind Wall creates a wall of light blue cubes with dark blue space between them. When using Sweeping Blade, the champion strikes an opponent in a wide arc, which you can notice based on the blue effect behind his sword. Debuffed opponent has blue misty semi-circles surrounding him or her.

Last Breath strikes create blue circles with yellow splashing effects.

Animations

The champion has a few new cool emotes. For example, during one of them, he is grooving to a boombox. During Recall his grooves with a mixer. Yasuo’s basic strikes leave a yellow mark and an effect that is common for comics.

Pros

  • I especially like the yellow effect on basic strikes and certain abilities. It reminds me of comic book visuals.
  • The Recall effect is dope.

Cons

  • Jacket and pants don’t go well with each other.

Spirit Blossom Yasuo

Image from Fandom

Price: 1,350

Skin Lore

Yasuo was a renowned warlord falsely accused of conspiracy against his own country. His brother was sent to bring him to justice, which ultimately led to the brother’s downfall.

Appearance and Model

Spirit Blossom Yasuo is a part of the Spirit Blossom theme together with Yone, Teemo, Ahri, Kindred, and Prestige Spirit Blossom Teemo. The chroma comes in 8 colors.

The champion wears open sandals, purple leggings and pants, and a wide robe that doesn’t cover the right shoulder. Yasuo’s sword looks great. It is held in purple/gray scabbard, and you can notice flowers growing out of it. The champion’s right arm is enveloped in a watery blue mist, and the majority of his torso is bare naked.

He has a few neat details on his body, including the purple belt with golden ornament and an amethyst necklace. Like with most other armors, Yasuo wears a large pauldron on his left shoulder. The Unforgiven’s hair is white with pink ends, and it is tied with a blossoming flower. Lastly, his eyes are crystal blue.

Visual Effects (VFX) and Sound Effects (SFX)

Way of the Wanderer makes a pink spiral barrier around the champion. Steel Tempest attacks are blue/pink and briefly create a flower around Yasuo’s hands. Upon gaining charges, his body is enveloped in a pink glow, and there is a gentle blue circle below his feet. Steel Tempest whirlwind is pink combined with blue, and you can spot a flower in its base.

Wind Wall creates an image at the target vector. It is a pink Japanese-style picture depicting blossoming trees (a pretty awesome effect, if you ask me). Dashing with Sweeping Blade leaves pink flower petals in the champion’s wake. Upon connecting with a target, Yasuo leaves a pink circle effect around them.

During Last Breath, Yasuo’s body will turn light blue. He creates a pink/light blue effect around targets as he strikes them down.

Animations

During the Recall spell, the champion summons a large tree. He cuts a flower from it and gently puts it down into the water. The basic attack leaves a pink trail behind it. Upon striking an enemy, pink vapors emanate into the air.

Pros

  • Wind Wall is incredible, but so are the other effects.
  • The sword and scabbard are really nice.

Cons

  • Too many things are going on with the skin. Some conflicting colors, as well.

Prestige True Damage Yasuo

Image from Fandom

Price: 125 Mythic essence.

Skin Lore

Yasuo’s career reaches a new high after the enormous success of “GIANTS.” The champion received numerous offers, all of which he turned down so he could focus on his one true passion, which is making dope music. Bathing Ape somehow managed to get his attention, and he now adorns golden colors as their representative.

Appearance and Model

The champion wears some really cool, modern techno clothes. He has dark blue sneakers with golden laces, dark blue pants, a white t-shirt, and a golden jacket. You can even notice the name of the sponsor on his jacket “Ape by a Bathing Ape.” In fact, the jacket is the skin’s main selling point having various signs and logos printed on it.

Yasuo wears a brown scabbard and sword on his left hip. He also has a small purse around his torso and a black/gold bandana around his neck. The Unforgiven wears golden ear muffs and has long white/light blue hair.

Visual Effects (VFX) and Sound Effects (SFX)

Basically, all the effects are the same as for True Damage Yasuo. The main difference is that it focuses on the golden color.

Animations

Same as with the visual effects, the skin relies on golden effects instead of the blue ones.

Pros

  • The outfit looks much better compared to True Damage Yasuo.
  • I like the addition of light blue to the outfit.

Cons

  • No complaints.

Truth Dragon Yasuo

Image from Fandom

Price: 1,820

Skin Lore

Yasuo was the guardian of a narrow path against a great enemy army. He cut down numerous soldiers buying precious time for nearby villagers to escape. As he was slowly losing strength, being on the verge of defeat, a Dragon of Truth came from the mountain tops saving this valiant warrior.

Appearance and Model

The cosmetic is a part of Dragonmancers theme alongside Storm Dragon Aurelion Sol, Prestige Obsidian Dragon Sett, Eternal Dragon Brand, Lagoon Dragon Kai’Sa, and many more.

The first thing you’ll notice with this skin is the massive yellow-toothed sword. The champion wears a ninja tabi, dark blue pants, and a white/green robe. All the small golden ornaments resemble a dragon, which is especially true for the massive golden pauldron on his left shoulder.

Yasuo’s left arm is green, and he has a golden hand. The champion has a dark blue sleeve of his right hand decorated with small golden ornaments. For the most part, his hair is dark blue with some yellow/orange strands. It looks pretty scaly.

Visual Effects (VFX) and Sound Effects (SFX)

Way of the Wanderer makes a golden shell around the champion. Steel Tempest strikes have a yellow visual effect. Upon gaining charges, the yellow dragon appears beneath Yasuo’s feet, and the spirit is released together with the whirlwind.

Wind Wall creates a yellow wall that resembles dragon scales. Sweeping Blade leaves yellow lines behind the champion and creates yellow circles around the affected target. After activating Last Breath, the champion’s hair and sword become glowing yellow. Upon striking the target several times, he will summon the spirit of the dragon to blast them.

Animations

During the Recall spell, Yasuo performs a blade dance during which a dragon spirit leaves his sword. After flying around a bit, the spirit enters the champion uniting with him. During emotes, the dragon flies around the Unforgiven. Basic strikes leave a yellow mark looking like sparks.

Pros

  • I like the spirit dragon effect.

Cons

  • The green hand and yellow sword are completely out of whack for this particular cosmetic.

Dream Dragon Yasuo

Image from Fandom

Price: 1,820

Skin Lore

Finally, the steel weapons stopped clanging, and there was peace on the battlefield. Yasuo was the last warrior alive but was quickly losing consciousness. Playing his favorite tune on the flute, the elder dragon heard his song and took pity on the swordsman.

Appearance and Model

In my opinion, Dream Dragon Yasuo is a major step forward compared to Truth Dragon Yasuo. The colors match each other, and everything seems to be a part of the same theme. You can notice a combination of deep purple, light blue, and bronze.

Yasuo wears the usual baggie pants, but this time around, they have scaly bronze ornaments resembling the skin of a dragon. The champion’s robe is rather long, and it combines sky blue with purple scaly details and bronze outliers. The Unforgiven has a purple belt, long edgy scabbard, and sword around his waist.

His left hand and shoulder are reinforced with fashionable bronze pieces of armor. Yasuo wears purple animal fur on his right shoulder and has sky blue/purple hair.

Visual Effects (VFX) and Sound Effects (SFX)

The effects are the same as for Truth Dragon Yasuo, but the color pattern has changed to purple and light blue.

Animations

Similarly, all animations are the same as for Truth Dragon Yasuo but with a small tweak to the colors.

Pros

  • The skin looks much better and more balanced compared to Truth Dragon Yasuo.

Cons

  • No complaints.

Vasuo Skins Guide: Conclusion

Yasuo is a champion with 12 skins in total, with the best ones being Dream Dragon Yasuo, Nightbringer Yasuo, and True Damage Yasuo. Most of them have amazing visual effects. However, they tend to be quite expensive, with the cheapest ones coming at 975 Riot Points.
