In League of Legends, various locations with unique elements have affected their champions in a certain way. Champions from the Shadow Isles have some of the most noticeable changes because they have been tainted by dark sorcery and an evil Black Mist.
Thresh is one such champion. Others include Kalista, Elise, Gwen, Karthus, Maokai, Vex, Viego, and Yorick.
In the game, Thresh is among the most formidable support champions. By hooking the enemy champion with his Q ability, Death Sentence, he can initiate a fight. His other skills are also tailored to cause the enemy champions plenty of frustration. He can even save his teammates from a tight spot.
Thresh’s kit is almost always broken, no matter how many times Riot Games nerf his abilities. That said, he isn’t the most accessible champion for beginners. His skill ceiling is relatively high, and you should only play him in a Ranked match after frequenting him in Normal and ARAM games. But if you stick with him, he will significantly improve your chances of winning.
The Bottom Line
A champion as formidable as Thresh needs skins that are just as menacing. His skins, for the most part, do just that. He has 12 skins other than his default. Among them, Dark Star Thresh is a highlight. There are changes to his skin, animations, sounds, and more. However, it costs a whopping 1820 RP.
Blood Moon Thresh is a decent alternative at 975 RP if you don’t have the budget for that. Of course, tastes are entirely subjective. I have listed all Thresh skins below so you can get an idea of which skins tickle your fancy. They are organized in terms of the release date.
Default Thresh Skin
This is his original skin, and it’s already pretty unique. He has a skeletal skull that ends in tendrils, while the rest of his head has an eerie green glow. He dons a cloak and wields a scythe and a lantern.
When he activates his Ultimate ability, The Box, a prison of walls—that glows green—appears around him. Likewise, his lantern also casts a green glow. When Thresh dances, he swings both his lantern and scythe around. This is similar to the Poi dance.
When he dies, the lantern floats above him as he backs away from him. Then the lantern absorbs his soul.
Deep Terror Thresh
Price: 975 RP
Release Date: 23rd January 2013
Thresh Overview
Thresh is a support champion who can carry the whole team once you master him. His kit includes:
- Passive (Damnation): he absorbs dead enemies’ souls, which grants him both ability power and armor.
- Q (Death Sentence): he throws his scythe to hook an enemy and either drag them towards him or leap to them.
- W (Dark Passage): he throws his lantern to shield a nearby ally. The ally can click on the lantern and be pulled to Thresh.
- E (Flay): Thresh uses his chain to either push enemies closer or far from him.
- R (The Box): Thresh creates a prison of walls around him that slows and damages enemies who pass through it.
Skin Lore
Deep Terror Thresh is part of the Forgotten Depths alternate universe, including Atlantean Fizz, Atlantean Syndra, Deep Sea Kog’Maw, Coral Reef Malphite, Deep Sea Nami, Deep One Kassadin, and Abyssal Nautilus. The skins all draw inspiration from tales from the deep. In the case of Deep Sea Thresh, he traps souls inside his diving bell.
Appearance and Effects
This is an aquatic skin (the first buyable Thresh skin, launched with the champion’s release). Instead of his default skull, Deep Terror Thresh has a head that resembles an octopus—depending on who you ask, it’s similar to Cthulhu and Futurama’s Zoidberg.
His lantern resembles a vintage diving helmet, and his scythe looks like an anchor. Instead of his greenish glow, he now has a bluish one with water bubbles; the bubbles show up in his abilities. And when recalling, he pulls out a treasure chest and stands on it with one leg.
How To Get It
Deep Terror Thresh can be yours for 975 RP (which translates to around $7). It offers a lot for the price, especially considering it came out in 2013.
If you don’t have the money but still want the skin, you can luck out by getting it through Loot. However, this is a gamble, so I wouldn’t suggest banking on it.
Chromas
Deep Terror Thresh doesn’t have any Chromas.

Skin Lore
This is one of the skins that follow the World Championship theme. They basically celebrate the major esports events in the League of Legends calendar. Championship Thresh celebrates the 2013 World Championship that took place in North America.
Appearance and Effects
Championship Thresh appears as a blue specter. The most noticeable change to his skin is that now he glows blue instead of green, and the rest of his attire changes to match this color. Also, when he recalls, he summons a platform below him and levitates his lantern above him.
How To Get It
Since Championship Thresh follows a seasonal theme, it was only available for a short while. Nowadays, you will have to either get it through Loot or wait until the Legacy Vault opens.
Chromas
Championship Thresh has one Chroma, called Golden, that turns his skull golden along with many parts of his attire and weapons.
Blood Moon Thresh
Price: 975 RP
Release Date: 8th January 2015

- Q (Death Sentence): he throws his scythe to hook an enemy and either drag them towards him or leap to them.

- R (The Box): Thresh creates a prison of walls around him that slows and damages enemies who pass through it
Skin Lore
The Blood Moon universe focuses on both Blood Moon worshippers and demons from Ionian. Here, Blood Moon Thresh is a demon whose followers summoned him on the Blood Moon night. Because of his insatiable bloodthirst, he has no problem slaughtering entire villages. His lantern also contains countless vengeful spirits.
Appearance and Effects
Blood Moon Thresh wears a mask that resembles the Japanese demonic Noh mask. The mask has red horns and a white face. He has white hair, his attire looks traditional—like a samurai’s—and both his lantern and scythe have received visual updates. His color scheme also changes from green to red.
He has new sounds for his death and recall—he sounds more demonic now—along with a new recall animation.
How To Get It
If you have $7 to spare, Blood Moon Thresh is a great skin for the price. It’s available at the Riot Store. You can also unlock it through Loot.
Chromas
No Chromas on Blood Moon Thresh, unfortunately.
SSW Thresh
Price: 750 RP (When Available)
Release Date: 13th May 2015
Thresh Overview
Thresh is a support champion who can carry the whole team once you master him. His kit includes:
- Passive (Damnation): he absorbs dead enemies’ souls, which grants him both ability power and armor.
- Q (Death Sentence): he throws his scythe to hook an enemy and either drag them towards him or leap to them.
- W (Dark Passage): he throws his lantern to shield a nearby ally. The ally can click on the lantern and be pulled to Thresh.
- E (Flay): Thresh uses his chain to either push enemies closer or far from him.
- R (The Box): Thresh creates a prison of walls around him that slows and damages enemies who pass through it
Skin Lore
Another Thresh skin draws inspiration from the game’s World Championships. SSW Thresh is based on the 2014 World Championship. Here, an esports player called Mata was the MVP of the tournament, leading his team to victory with Thresh.
To honor Mata and his team, the developers crafted skins based on their selected champions and tournament uniforms. This included SSW Thresh.
Appearance and Effects
SSW Thresh is a laid-back skin. He is dressed mainly in white with a dash of blue and black pants. He wears a branded cape and a headset, the chains leading to his scythe and lantern resemble PC cables, and he dons blue-and-white sneakers.
When recalling, he summons the 2014 World Championship trophy, raises it into the air, then grabs it with his scythe and pulls it to him. He finally lifts the trophy with one hand before vanishing.
How To Get It
This is a cool-looking skin, affordable (750 RP), and utterly different in tone from every other Thresh skin. So, being a Legacy Skin is a pity; even if you want it, you will have to wait for the Legacy vault to open. And that, dear reader, is the information we are not privy to.
Chromas
SSW Thresh doesn’t have any Chromas.
Dark Star Thresh
Price: 1820 RP
Release Date: 15th June 2016
Thresh Overview
Thresh is a support champion who can carry the whole team once you master him. His kit includes:
- Passive (Damnation): he absorbs dead enemies’ souls, which grants him both ability power and armor.
- Q (Death Sentence): he throws his scythe to hook an enemy and either drag them towards him or leap to them.
- W (Dark Passage): he throws his lantern to shield a nearby ally. The ally can click on the lantern and be pulled to Thresh.
- E (Flay): Thresh uses his chain to either push enemies closer or far from him.
- R (The Box): Thresh creates a prison of walls around him that slows and damages enemies who pass through it
Skin Lore
Dark Star skins turn League of Legend champions into cosmic terrors bent on death and destruction. For example, Dark Star Thresh is so devoted to his god, Dark Star, that he is on a crusade to feed Him the entirety of existence.
So, it’s interesting to learn that while in early development, Dark Star Thresh could have been Beekeeper Thresh instead.
Other champions in this universe include Dark Cosmic Jhin, Dark Cosmic Lissandra, Dark Cosmic Lux, Dark Star Mordekaiser, Dark Star Cho’Gath, Dark Star Jarvan IV, and more.
Appearance and Effects
Dark Star Thresh has a bluish-purple color scheme from head to toe. His left arm glows, looking almost translucent. His armor appears tough with sharp edges, almost like it’s asteroid crafted. Finally, his lantern is wholly replaced by a swirling mass of dark energy: a black hole.
When dancing, he grabs the black hole with his scythe and spins it around as he dances. And when he recalls, Dark Star Thresh puts the black hole into the ground. He then hurls his scythe through it and vanishes. At his home base, the pops up out of the black hole. And as he dies, the champion implodes in a sphere.
How To Get It
Dark Star Thresh is available, but it will cost you a pretty penny. 1820 RP (just over $13) makes this one of the costliest skins in the game. However, if you’re a diehard Thresh fan and you can afford it, this skin is totally worth it.
Chromas
Dark Star Thresh has one Chroma, called Antimatter. It gives him a more reddish glow. However, I wouldn’t recommend it because it doesn’t offer a significant enough change for my tastes.
High Noon Thresh
Price: 1350 RP
Release Date: 30th August 2018
Thresh Overview
Thresh is a support champion who can carry the whole team once you master him. His kit includes:
- Passive (Damnation): he absorbs dead enemies’ souls, which grants him both ability power and armor.
- Q (Death Sentence): he throws his scythe to hook an enemy and either drag them towards him or leap to them.
- W (Dark Passage): he throws his lantern to shield a nearby ally. The ally can click on the lantern and be pulled to Thresh.
- E (Flay): Thresh uses his chain to either push enemies closer or far from him.
- R (The Box): Thresh creates a prison of walls around him that slows and damages enemies who pass through it
Skin Lore
The High Noon universe draws its inspiration from Westerns. In a desert setting, it has champions in different subsets: sheriffs, cowboys, angels, creatures, and demons.
High Noon Thresh acts like the grim reaper here. He is an ancient evil who will eventually claim the souls of all living things.
Appearance and Effects
This is one of the skins I most looked forward to seeing in Thresh, just to see if they would make his scythe a whip so he would lasso enemy champions. But, for the most part, it delivers.
His head is a flaming cow horn, complete with horns. His armor reflects the Wild West. His lantern is literally a Western lantern—with a fire burning inside it—and his scythe is now a lasso.
When recalling, High Noon Thresh whips his lasso around, jumps through it, and creates a flaming void on the ground. His Q attack is what I’d hoped: he lassos someone just like a cowboy would.
How To Get It
You can nab High Noon Thresh for 1350 RP (close to $10). The skin is among his coolest-looking ones, so you definitely won’t complain.
Chromas
This skin has 6 Chromas: Tanzanite, Obsidian, Sapphire, Ruby, and Pearl. They each offer a color change and subtle changes like his lantern’s design. All in all, they are not bad purchases.
Pulsefire Thresh
Price: 1350 RP
Release Date: 21st November 2019
Thresh Overview
Thresh is a support champion who can carry the whole team once you master him. His kit includes:
- Passive (Damnation): he absorbs dead enemies’ souls, which grants him both ability power and armor.
- Q (Death Sentence): he throws his scythe to hook an enemy and either drag them towards him or leap to them.
- W (Dark Passage): he throws his lantern to shield a nearby ally. The ally can click on the lantern and be pulled to Thresh.
- E (Flay): Thresh uses his chain to either push enemies closer or far from him.
- R (The Box): Thresh creates a prison of walls around him that slows and damages enemies who pass through it
Skin Lore
The Pulsefire universe is set in the distant future. Its champions use Chrono technology and have cybernetic enhancements.
Pulsefire Thresh is the leader of the Rememberancers: the future’s law enforcers who seek any interferences or temporal anomalies in the timeline. The other Rememberancers include Pulsefire versions of Caitlyn, Fiora, Lucian, and Pantheon.
Appearance and Effects
Everything about Pulsefire Thresh is sleek and futuristic, from his head to his armor, with a dominant blue sheen. His armor makes him look like a robot—maybe he’s a futuristic Hextech robot—and his scythe is shiny. Even the orbs that appear look like small spherical futuristic energy sources.
When recalling, a portal appears below him, and he spins his scythe around.
How To Get It
Pulsefire Thresh is available for 1350 RP. The skin looks neat, but I would wait for a sale before purchasing it as the modifications aren’t enough to warrant the steep cost.
Chromas
Pulsefire Thresh doesn’t have any Chromas.
Pulsefire Thresh Prestige Edition

Skin Lore
Just like Pulsefire Thresh, he is still the head of the Rememberancers. However, a growing number of rogue agents and paradoxes force him to finally start taking action himself.
Appearance and Effects
This skin doesn’t look much different from Pulsefire Thresh; it’s almost a Chroma, to be honest. However, Pulsefire Thresh Prestige Edition has a golden look, extending from his chains to his head and attire.
His lantern is the most significant difference, which is now an orb encircled by rotating rings. And his orbs are now golden.
How To Get It
This skin had a limited release. So the only way to get it now is to luck upon it when unlocking Loot.
Chromas
Pulsefire Thresh Prestige Edition has no Chromas.

Appearance and Effects
Inspired by FPX’s phoenix crest, the skin has a fiery effect, with red and black accents on Thresh’s armor. In addition, his scythe is on fire, while he wears a red-and-yellow mask on his head. Orb also appear as flaming yellow phoenix feathers.
The FPX logo appears below him when he recalls, along with Crisp’s signature. Then four hands emerge, and FPX Thresh plays them like a piano as fireworks explode above him.
How To Get It
The skin is currently unavailable. However, it might be available during the next League of Legends World Championship. Until then, you can only get it through Loot, though that chances are slim.
Chromas
FPX Thresh has one Chroma: Elite. This replaces the glowing gold edges with red. It also replaces the X on the front of his armor with a design.
Spirit Blossom Thresh
Price: 1820 RP
Release Date: 22nd July 2020
Thresh Overview
Thresh is a support champion who can carry the whole team once you master him. His kit includes:
- Passive (Damnation): he absorbs dead enemies’ souls, which grants him both ability power and armor.
- Q (Death Sentence): he throws his scythe to hook an enemy and either drag them towards him or leap to them.
- W (Dark Passage): he throws his lantern to shield a nearby ally. The ally can click on the lantern and be pulled to Thresh.
- E (Flay): Thresh uses his chain to either push enemies closer or far from him.
- R (The Box): Thresh creates a prison of walls around him that slows and damages enemies who pass through it
Skin Lore
The Spirit Blossom Universe involves a festival where spirits interact with living beings. Spirit Blossom Thresh is an ancient demon who tempts souls away from salvation so he can trap them for all time.
Other Spirit Blossom champions include Teemo, Cassiopeia, Lillia, Riven, Vayne, Ahri, Kindred, Yasuo, and Yone.
Appearance and Effects
Spirit Blossom Thresh is unique because we see Thresh in two forms: demon and human.
In his demon form, he is horned, has a demonic face with a golden mask covering his mouth and jaw, white hair, and purple skin. He wears a necklace, has a purple lantern, and uses scrolls connecting to his scythe and lantern in place of his chain.
We can see his face in his human form—though he still has horns—purple hair, eyes with eyeliner, one human hand and one demonic, pale skin, and long, pointy ears.
He has exciting new emotes. When recalling, three glowing lanterns appear above him. He then hooks the ground with his scythe; his lantern grows in size as it absorbs the light from the floating lanterns, then Thresh grabs the lantern.
When orbs appear, they resemble flowers with white petals and a purple core. And when Thresh dies, the lantern sucks him entirely into it, not just his soul.
To change form between demon and human, you first need to absorb the required number of souls. Then, when you use your ultimate ability, you will change from demon to human. After this, you can manually choose which form you want by pressing Ctrl + 5. Finally, you can activate it outside combat.
How To Get It
The skin is available in the store, though it matches the cost of Dark Star Thresh. It’s easily worth the price, though, since you get so much out of the skin.
Chromas
Spirit Blossom Thresh is chockful of Chromas. They include Catseye, Emerald, Night Blossom, Obsidian, Pearl, Rose Quartz, Ruby, and Sapphire. The Chromas all offer changes in color and design, and they are decent purchases if you can afford them.
Unbound Thresh
Price: 750 RP
Release Date: 29th July 2021
Thresh Overview
Thresh is a support champion who can carry the whole team once you master him. His kit includes:
- Passive (Damnation): he absorbs dead enemies’ souls, which grants him both ability power and armor.
- Q (Death Sentence): he throws his scythe to hook an enemy and either drag them towards him or leap to them.
- W (Dark Passage): he throws his lantern to shield a nearby ally. The ally can click on the lantern and be pulled to Thresh.
- E (Flay): Thresh uses his chain to either push enemies closer or far from him.
- R (The Box): Thresh creates a prison of walls around him that slows and damages enemies who pass through it
Skin Lore
In the Ruined King Saga, Viego returns to Runeterra and corrupts it, turning friends against each other and more. Champions rise to challenge him.
As for Unbound Thresh, he takes advantage of the chaos the Ruined King brings. He takes more souls than would have otherwise been possible, and his skin and flesh return.
Appearance and Effects
The most significant difference between Unbound Thresh and the default skin is his flesh. Like Spirit Blossom Thresh, he now has skin and a face. His armor also has sharp edges and leaves his abs exposed.
Other than this, there aren’t a lot of differences. But that makes sense considering the low cost of the skin.
How To Get It
Unbound Thresh is available for 750 RP, making it the cheapest Thresh skin you can buy with real money.
Chromas
This skin doesn’t have any Chromas.

When recalling, his lantern turns into the Steel Dragon. It breathes green fire, flies around, and returns to the lantern.

Chromas
Steel Dragon Thresh has a whopping 9 Chromas! They include Amethyst, Aquamarine, Catseye, Emberclaw, Obsidian, Pearl, Rose Quartz, Ruby, and Turquoise.
